I am what some in the Buddhist world call a “scholar-practitioner,” in that since 2000 I have been a dharmachari of the Triratna Buddhist Order and am a retired professor of Buddhist philosophy, who taught at McGill University from 1988 until 2003 and at The University of New Mexico from 2003 until 2013. I don't much like the label “scholar-practitioner‚” and would prefer to think of myself as a person who uses writing as a method of clarifying my thoughts and then shares that writing in case it may be of some use to others as they try to clarify theirs.
